I just stood. That’s all I could do without bursting into tears. I couldn’t seek reassurance from Sheska nor Fury. I couldn’t yell for Roy to return, I could just stand, stand and think.

“I suppose I have to contact Havoc, ask him if he’s free. I will have to get a date with… Jean” I cringed.

“Lt.? What are you talking about?”

I turned around sharply, “Havoc?!”

He smiled at me, “Well I did have a date tonight. But it was just some dog from the bar. I’m so blessed to have you even consider a date with me!” Havoc beamed.

I smiled at him. I never noticed how handsome of a smile he had. “I never knew you felt like that Jean” I said as we walked out of the base.

He laughed a little, scratching the back of his neck. “Well everyone knows that you are the most beautiful woman on base Lt.” And there it was again, that award winning smile.

I blushed a little I was?! “Jean, you can call me Riza now, you don’t have to call me Lt. Out of the military base,” I said smiling.

He laughed. “I’m sorry Riza. I’m just so used to you at the base being so stern and… well you know Lt. Hawkeye”

We both laughed. “I guess that is true” we walked in an awkward silence for a while until they got to Havoc’s car.

“So this is your car huh?” I asked looking down at a brand new Bentley car. shit…

“Yea, this is my baby right here. Only a few months old actually so be careful getting in. Don’t wanna kill it to fast,” he said laughing a little.

I smiled, “Not as bad as Roy, his first car that I drove in he made me take off my shoes!” Havoc laughed. “Wow, he must have loved that car”

“Actually, he just wanted to keep it nice for his trips to the ‘movies’ with his girlfriends”

Havoc cringed, “Damn, he would do that to you?” I looked at him with disgust. “No!! Not the movie thing, the taking the shoes off thing! I’m so sorry that came out all wrong”

“You do have a talent for saying the wrong things” I laughed.

“Yea,” Havoc scratched the back of his neck, “not my best though” he laughed a little.

My face turned bright red sex?! Is he talking about sex?!?! I thought.

He looked at me when we approached a red light. “Oh shit! I’m sorry that didn’t turn out correct either!!” Havoc cursed at himself under his breath. He was looking down at his steering wheel, pondering about what he should say next.

“Green, go” I said as politely as I could. “Huh?” “The light, its green” I said again.

Havoc turned a slight shade of pink, “Thanks.” I smiled to make him feel a little better about messing up his words so often.

We started driving again and I noticed he was driving to my house. “Excuse me, but Havoc. Why are we headed to my house?” I asked.

“Well you’re still in  your military persona. I just figured, I just figured you’d like to change before we go out. So, you know people don’t stare at us like we are trying to shut the place down” he said with a brilliant smile.

I looked down at my garments and agreed. “I guess you’re right, if you’d like you can come inside. I live in the back, here in the front is Roy’s home” I said.

“You two… live on the same property?” he asked. “I mean, with no ties right? You two aren’t… together, are you? Because I wouldn’t want to impose on anything that you two may have. Roy is my friend, and you. Well you are… you’re beautiful,” he blushed slightly.

I had trouble following him, but I did know the jest of what he was trying to say. “No, I’m just his bodyguard. You’re not imposing on anything Jean,” I paused. “You, you really think that I’m beautiful?” I asked sheepishly.

“Of course I do! Who doesn’t?” he told me as we were standing on my doorstep.

I started to walk inside but I noticed that he just stood there on my doorstep like a gentleman. Not wanting to intrude on my home. “If you’d like you can come inside. It’s… well cozy, I’ll just be in my room changing” I told him.

He laughed, “Hah. Usually this doesn’t happen until the end of the date” he smiled and followed me inside. “Wow, this is a really nice place Riza” he said looking around.

“Really? I never really liked it myself. I never have liked small homes. I don’t know maybe its just because I was raised in a large two story house” I said walking into my room. Not until I had striped into my underclothes I remembered. We never decided on something to do! “Jean!” I poked my head out my door, “What should I be dressing for?”

“Good question. Dress nice, I’m gonna take you out to the nicest restaurant I know!” he said.

I shut the door and began to look for something to were. But as I looked in my closet I noticed that none of my clothes were very nice. damn… what the hell and I going to wear? Then I saw it, a black dress. It was about to my knees and the back was tied together with a string of rhinestones. “I guess this will have to do” I said under my breath.

“Hey Riza are you done yet? Roy’s here, he wants to see you too” Havoc yelled through the door.

I stopped dead in my tracks. “Roy’s here?” I asked quietly, yet loud enough for him to hear me and respond.

“Hawkeye?” I heard Roy ask, “Yes I’m here, I live here practically. I wanted to see how your date was going” he said.

I smiled and put on  my stockings and shoes and walked out my bedroom door. “Hello Roy, Havoc!” I said absolutely beaming.

“You look stunning Riza!” Havoc smiled. “I cant believe that you’d get so dressed up for me” he scratched the back of his head. “What do you think Roy? Beautiful ain’t she?”

“Yea, sure is. Hey Havoc, you haven’t smoked since you left work, what’s wrong?” Roy joked.

I had just noticed too, he hadn’t been smoking. That’s unusual, I thought.

Havoc thought for a second, “Hm, I just noticed myself. Weird” he said smiling.
